Step 2

Learn about the issues

Millions of us in North Carolina are working jobs that don’t pay a living wage, don’t provide paid time off for caretaking or illness, and don’t make much attempt to keep us safe. This election, we’re fighting for the basic rights and needs of all working people. Learn more about the issues we’re prioritizing below.

PAID FAMILY AND MEDICAL LEAVE

Everybody who works should be able to take the time they need to recover from serious illness, welcome a new baby, or take care of a dying relative. We all deserve time off to care.

PAID SICK DAYS

We needed paid sick days before COVID, but four years have passed since the pandemic and we STILL don’t  have guaranteed paid sick days for working North Carolinians.

RAISING THE MINIMUM WAGE

Earning enough to pay our bills and save for emergencies shouldn’t be a luxury. North Carolina leaders need to join other states and cities in the South that have raised their minimum wage to support working people.

UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE

Losing a job is stressful enough, but trying to find a new job while surviving off $350/week or less in unemployment benefits is just insulting. NC’s unemployment system was once average, but it now ranks as one of the worst systems in the country.

CHILDCARE

North Carolina is facing a childcare crisis. Parents are struggling to find and afford care, and 3 in 10 childcare centers in our state are at risk of shutting down. We need our elected leaders to properly invest in our childcare system.
